The woman, identified as Anastasia Fidanian, was taken into custody by immigration officers shortly before 9am as she prepared to board an outbound flight. Officers from Wichit Police Station arrived soon after to execute an arrest warrant and escort her into custody.
The arrest followed an incident on April 29, when Wichit Police were alerted to extensive damage inside a condo unit. Items including furniture, electrical appliances, walls and ceilings had been damaged to the tune of more than B350,000.
The condo owner, who had rented the unit to Fidanian, filed a police complaint after discovering the destruction. Police launched an investigation and coordinated with immigration authorities to prevent her from fleeing the country.
According to police, Fidanian confessed during questioning that she trashed the property out of anger after she was denied a refund of her deposit.
The arrest was carried out under the direction of Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang, Superintendent of Wichit Police Station, along with senior investigators and Phuket Immigration officers.
Fidanian is now facing charges of property damage, and legal proceedings are underway.
