Although the trail along the cape, also known locally for its ‘Black Rock Viewpoint’, is only 1.8km long, the two women lost their way after nightfall.

Rescue workers from the Rawa Municipality branch of the the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM-Rawai) did not confirm at which time the two women were found, but posted online confirmation of their safe recovery at 9:23pm.

The women had not suffered any injuries, allowing the rescue workers to escort them to safety on foot.

The two tourists were escorted back to their accommodation, DDPM-Rawai confirmed.

In September last year, a foreign woman was safely recovered from Laem Krathing, north of Nai Harn Beach, after she slipped on rocks and broke her ankle.

In 2022, firefighters managed to contain a wildfire that razed the steep slopes in the area, endangering homes and resorts.

Personnel from the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command were dispatched to rescue 16 Thai and foreign tourists who had become trapped on the rocks, unable to return to safety due to the fire crossing the access road to the popular viewpoint.
