The policy was delivered yesterday (Nov 20) during a meeting at Phuket Provincial Hall, attended by Phuket Provincial Public Relations Officer Sopon Kiemkarn; Thachanprom Somsuk, Director of the Southern Television Administration Division in Phuket; Duchanee Satchaboonthawee, Director of Radio Thailand Phuket; and officials from the Phuket Public Relations Department.
Gov Nirat stressed the need for fully integrated communication between agencies so that official messages can be delivered more effectively to residents and visitors, said an official report of the meeting.
He highlighted the importance of comprehensive and timely dissemination of government information, noting that stronger coordination would help the province better serve the public.
Officials from the Phuket branch of the Public Relations Department (PR Phuket) affirmed their readiness to drive the new policy forward and to enhance information delivery across all channels.
The department said the improved approach aims to build confidence among local communities and tourists while ensuring the province’s public relations efforts produce tangible results, said the official report.
Since officially assuming office on Monday (Nov 17) Gov Nirat has had an odd week compared with previous incoming Governors, who traditionally prefer to meet with key figures as soon as possible so they can be brought up to speed on critical issues affecting the island, such as traffic, floods, landslides waste and tourists’ safety.
Instead, Gov Nirat on Monday spent his first working day as Governor in Phuket by attending a meeting in Bangkok. He met with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Prasop Riangngen, to “review” preparations for Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025, which gets underway next weekend.
The meeting came despite the two previous Phuket Governors, Sophon Suwannarat and Saransak Srikruanetra, along with a host of leading local figures have spent the better part of the past year preparing the event.
Then on Tuesday, Gov Nirat spent the day being welcomed at Provincial Hall.
On Thursday, he spent the day touring Phuket’s main temples and speaking with the leading Buddhist monks on the island.
Yesterday, as noted above, he spent the day talking with his own PR team to “improve” how they “serve the public”.
