Phuket Governor Saransak Srikruanetra and Vice Governor Adul Chuthong visited the site yesterday with Patong Mayor Lalita Maneesri, along with municipal executives, council members and officials from the Phuket Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, the Provincial Electricity Authority, Patong Police and Kathu District Office.

The inspection focused on the section where a hillside collapsed onto the road during continuous rain yesterday morning. The landslide blocked both lanes, toppling trees and power poles, and forcing authorities to close the road from the Phet Kut Intersection (in front of Patong Hill Hotel) to the Kha Luang Intersection.

Mayor Lalita confirmed that residents living near the affected slope have been asked to temporarily evacuate due to the ongoing risk of further landslides should heavy rain continue.

“We ask for everyone’s cooperation to avoid the area and use alternative routes for their safety,” she said.

Municipal workers and engineers are now clearing debris and assessing the stability of the surrounding slope before reopening the road. The reopening will depend on weather conditions and safety evaluations over the coming days.

Patong Municipality said it will issue a public announcement once 50 Pi Rd is deemed safe and ready to reopen.

For now, motorists are advised to avoid the area and follow updates from local authorities.
