Major water supply outage across Wichit

PHUKET: The Phuket branch of the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA Phuket) is urging residents and business owners to hold water in reserve ahead of a major water supply outage that will affect a large area stretching all the way from the Thep Anusorn Intersection on Chao Fa West Rd to Soi Palai in Chalong and Baan Borrae off Sakdidet Rd in Wichit.

The water supply outage will be in effect all day, from 9am until 11:30pm on Thursday (Nov 28), PWA Phuket said in its announcement.

The water supply outage is necessary as the PWA workers will carry out replacement repairs to a 400mm HDPE water supply mains in fron of the Phanason Thep Anusorn housing estate and in front of the Tueanjai shop in Wichit, PWA Phuket explained.

Ares to be affected by weak water supply, or no water supply at all were given as:

  • Soi Sarngchan
  • Soi Sukniran 1-6

The PWA assured that steps will be taken to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.

After water supply is restored, water may appear discoloured or contain sediment temporarily, PWA Phuket cautioned.

PWA Phuket apologised for the inconvenience and said it appreciated the public’s understanding.

People were queries about the water supply outage were advised to contact PWA Phuket at 076-319173 or 063-4744565, or the PWA call center at 1662.

The major water outage, affecting at least tens of thousands of residents and business owners, follows Deputy Minister of Interior Sabida Thaiseth arriving in Phuket last week to be briefed on officials’ long-term plans to resolve the island’s recurring water supply woes.

Ms Sabida was briefed on the plans at a meeting held at the offices of the Phuket branch of the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA Phuket).
