Members of a search team scouring the shore found the body of Mr du Bois, 49, washed ashore at the northern end of Nai harn Beach at about 11:43pm.

Mr du Bois was swept out to sea by a strong current at Nai Harn Beach on Sunday (June 9).

He was swimming with his wife, Siriamon Petcharawut, 49, who was able to bring herself back to shore. Lifeguards then helped their 3-year-old son back to shore.

Lifeguards were unable to find Mr du Bois, and a more intensive search for him was launched Sunday evening. Rescue workers and Rawai Municipality set up a search centre on the beach yesterday to coordinate the search effort.

Ms Siriamon has identified the body as that of Mr du Bois. The body has been taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for forensic doctors to examine, officials confirmed.
