The victim, identified as Kwanchai Phonsari from Udon Thani Province, was using an electric jack hammer to remove concrete near the pool at the hotel when the incident occurred at around 10:45am.

Witnesses told police they heard Mr Kwanchai cry out before collapsing and convulsing. His co-workers immediately unplugged the power cord, performed CPR and alerted hotel staff to call an ambulance.

Emergency responders arrived and continued resuscitation efforts before transporting Mr Kwanchai to Chalong Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said the area where the man had been working was wet, increasing the likelihood of electric shock. Officers inspecting the scene found electrical and extension cords connected to the main outlet, but the rock breaker itself was no longer at the site.

There were no signs of external burns or assault, and the victim was not wearing shoes at the time of the incident, police noted.

A doctor’s preliminary examination found that Mr Kwanchai died from cardiac arrest caused by electric shock. His body has been sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further medical examination.

Karon Police Chief Pol Col Khundet Na Nongkhai confirmed the investigation, with Pol Lt Col Phirawat Yodtor assigned as the investigating officer.
