Phuket City Police were called to the scene, a hotel on Luang Por Rd, at 6:39am.

Officers, along with forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital and rescue workers from the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation, arrived to find the deceased, identified as Emika Ranron from Chiang Rai, lying face down on the ground near the hotel.

During an inspection of Ms Emika’s room on the fourth floor of the hotel, investigators noted a U-shaped strap inside and found the door slightly ajar. The nature and use of the U-shaped strap was not explained.

Ms Emika’s body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for post-mortem examination as standard procedure while police continue their investigation into her death.

Police said that preliminary findings suggested the incident was a suicide. However, police gave no motive for the apparent suicide.
