A widespread water outage in Wichit and Ratsada was announced by the Phuket office of the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA Phuket) today (Apr 20).
The water supply will be shut down to allow PWA personnel to conduct "cutting and welding" on a 500mm steel water pipe at the Bang Wad water station.
According to the PWA Phuket notice, the outage on Tuesday (Apr 23) is expected to continue from 9am to 7pm. Areas to be affected include "the entire area of Irrawaddy Bypass village, Ratsada Sub-District, and Wichit Sub-District."
PWA Phuket did not elaborate on whether the work at Bang Wad Dam is related to the water level in the reservoir dropping to 20% of maximum volume.
The water authority urged people to collect any water they may require during the outage period beforehand. The PWA will restore the mains water supply as soon as the work is finished.
