“The strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf with outbreaks of isolated heavy rain likely over the East and the South.

“The rough sea will be likely 2-3 meters high in upper portions of both the Andaman and the Gulf. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore.

“The coast of the East and the western South should watch for inshore surges lasting (until) July 22,” the warning read.

The southwesterly winds across Phuket and the immediate region are forecast to range from 20km/h gusting up to 40km/h.

The warning also cautioned of severe weather in the North and Northeast as Tropical Storm “Son-Tinh” continues to wind down in the region.

“At 4am today, the active low-pressure declined from tropical depression SON-TINH still leads to torrential rain for the North and the Northeast of Thailand.

North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan and Tak.
