The first incident occurred at about 4:30am on the downhill side of Patong Hill, when a section of soil gave way, bringing down a tree and street lamp and blocking one lane of Phra Barami Rd.

Patong Police and municipal workers quickly cleared the debris, and by 9am traffic had returned to normal, Kathu District Office reported.

A second landslide was reported at about 7:30am in Baramee Soi 3 in Patong. Patong Municipality officials provided initial assistance and are assessing the extent of damage, with further details to be announced later.

Kathu District Chief and local authorities have mobilised security officers, village headmen and local administrative organisations to closely monitor the situation and provide immediate assistance if conditions worsen.

As of 9am, rainfall measured 74.8 millimetres at the Bang Wad Dam weather station, according to data from the Hydro-Informatics Institute. Water levels in Bang Yai Canal, Bang Wad Canal and around Kathu Waterfall were reported to be rising, though no flooding had been observed.

Rain continued to fall across much of Kathu and Patong this morning, prompting a renewed advisory for motorists to exercise caution on Patong Hill and other steep roads.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) also issued Weather Warning No. 8, forecasting unstable weather and heavy rain for parts of the upper South, including Phuket, from Oct 31 to Nov 2. The advisory warns of possible flash floods and runoff in risk areas, particularly near foothills and waterways.

Residents and farmers are urged to secure property and crops, stay alert to changing conditions, and follow updates from the Meteorological Department via its website www.tmd.go.th or hotline 1182, which operates 24 hours a day.

Authorities said teams remain on standby across Patong and Kathu to respond to any further incidents should rainfall continue.
