Officers arrested the Ukrainian national, named by police only as “Mr Ehor”, 35, in front of the Elephant Camp parking lot, Wiset Rd, Rawai, at about 8:20am yesterday (Feb 21).
He was taken to Chalong Police Station and charged under Section 86 of the Tourism Business and Tour Guide Act B.E. 2008 and as an alien performing work prohibited to foreigners.
The second foreigner arrested, named only as “Mr Fawang”, 31, was not identified by nationality. However, officers did confirm he was carrying a pink identification card issued by the Thai government confirming he was not a Thai citizen. Such cards are commonly carried by Myanmar, Cambodian and Laotian nationals.
Fawang was arrested at Soi Rommanee in the Phuket Old Town area at about 10:55am yesterday.
He was taken to Phuket City Phuket Police Station and charged as a foreigner working illegally in the Kingdom and charged under Section 49 and Section 86 of the Tourism Business and Tour Guides Act, Tourist Police confirmed.
