According to police, the pair had taken off from Phuket Airpark at about 2pm for a training flight. The crash happened roughly two hours later. The cause of the accident has yet to be determined.
Thalang Police have impounded the paramotor for inspection and confirmed that relevant agencies have been notified to investigate further.
Pol Col Nikorn Chuthong, Superintendent of Thalang Police, confirmed that witnesses are being interviewed as part of the investigation.
* Correction: The airborne vehicle was later confirmed to have been an ultralight, not a paramotor as initially reported by police. The error is regretted.
