The Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation received an emergency call at 3:05am reporting that a driver had lost control of his motorbike and fallen into a ravine. The two people involved in the accident were unable to climb out and required immediate assistance.
Rescue workers from the Khuan Yang and Kathu branches of the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation rushed to the scene, where they found the motorbike and its two injured riders stranded about 20 metres down in the ravine, in complete darkness.
Fortunately, both victims were conscious and able to communicate with rescuers.
Rescue personnel quickly assessed the situation from above and called for additional equipment, including slings and lighting, to safely support the operation. Teams carefully rappelled down the steep slope to reach the injured pair.
The driver was identified as Dinat Panaejaka, 23, from Yala, who suffered pain in his left arm. The passenger, Baifoen Jhanpratum, also 23, from Prachin Buri, complained of pain in her back and legs. After stabilising their conditions, the rescue team safely lifted both victims from the ravine.
They were later transported to Patong Hospital for further treatment.
Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the accident.
