The event, held on Wednesday (Nov 12) at The Pago Design Hotel in Ratsada, was presided over by Phuket Governor Saransak Srikruanetra, with participation from Krida Srisomwong, Deputy Director of the TAT East Asia Region; Siriwan Siharat, Director of the TAT Phuket Office; and more than 100 local tourism entrepreneurs and partners.
Organised by Eablarp Sriphirom, TAT Director of Tourism Product, the bootcamp aimed to enhance understanding of the ‘Trusted Thailand’ certification process among tourism businesses in Phuket and Phang Nga.
The initiative encourages operators to improve safety and service quality while aligning with TAT’s vision of sustainable, responsible, and reliable tourism.
Governor Saransak said the ‘Trusted Thailand’ project plays a key role in reaffirming Thailand’s readiness to welcome visitors by ensuring that tourism services meet modern safety and service standards.
“Building confidence among tourists is essential to maintaining our international competitiveness and long-term stability,” he said.
During the session, Mr Krida delivered a briefing on the Chinese tourism market, outlining current trends and strategies to strengthen tourist confidence through the ‘Trusted Thailand’ logo. Participants also received guidance on applying for certification, as well as access to a consultation clinic for personalised advice on meeting the program’s requirements.
The ‘Trusted Thailand’ certification focuses on four core criteria for quality and reliability:
* General security measures to ensure the safety of tourists.
* Secure payment systems and transparent financial practices.
* Foreign language communication for emergency response and professional service.
* Travel safety and accessibility, ensuring clear and safe visitor access.
Businesses awarded the ‘Trusted Thailand’ logo receive a recognised mark of quality that helps attract tourists by assuring them of safe and trustworthy services. The project also promotes environmental and social responsibility among tourism operators, contributing to Thailand’s sustainable tourism development goals.
Following the Phuket event, the ‘Trusted Thailand Bootcamp’ was held Pattaya on Friday (Nov 14), and is to be held in Khon Kaen on Nov 17 and in Bangkok on Nov 24.
In addition, TAT’s Tourism Product Department will host the ‘STGs STAR Clinic’ to help entrepreneurs conduct self-assessments in line with the 17 Sustainable Tourism Goals (STGs), further supporting Thailand’s commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism.
TAT officials said the Trusted Thailand initiative represents a long-term investment in the country’s tourism reputation, aiming to make Thailand not just a top destination, but a trusted one.
