The accident, causing significant disruption and road closures, occurred at approximately 12:15pm. No injuries were reported in the accident.

According to officers at the scene, the truck experienced ‘brake failure’ while navigating the rain-slicked road.

The vehicle skidded and crashed into three roadside power poles along the road from Kata to Chalong. All three poles were knocked down in the collision.

Traffic police and emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene to secure the area and manage traffic.

Officers have temporarily closed both the uphill and downhill lanes as crews work to repair the damage and remove debris.

Initial estimates are that the operation is expected to take approximately four to five hours, officers said.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area during this time and instead use Saiyuan-Kata Road as a detour. Khok Ta Node Road is also being recommended as a temporary shortcut to Laem Phromthep.
