The incident occurred at about 4:18am and was first reported by a passing motorist, Patong Police confirmed.
Under the direction of Patong Police Chief Pol Col Chalermchai Hirasawat, with support from Pol Lt Col Somporn Surin, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, and Pol Lt Col Chamnan Trapsin, Head of the Traffic Division, officers quickly arrived to manage the situation and direct traffic through the remaining open lane.
Officials from Patong Municipality, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and other agencies were called to the scene to clear the fallen tree and repair the damaged power line.
By mid-morning, the road was fully cleared and traffic had returned to normal, police confirmed.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area during the cleanup operation and are reminded to drive with caution on Patong Hill, especially during wet weather when the road can become slippery.
Police thanked local agencies and the public for their cooperation in restoring road safety as quickly as possible.
The road safety incident early this morning followed Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phipat Ratchakitprakarn just yesterday ordering a complete overhaul of the long-delayed Patong Tunnel project.
