The advisory comes as work to move power poles ahead of construction of the Heroines Underpass this week required traffic police to close one lane on the southbound approach to the traffic-heavy roundabout.

Traffic along Thepkrasattri Rd in front of Tha Ruea Temple at 10:15am was reported to moving freely, even with one lane closed southbound, but both lanes open northbound.

“Traffic can still move at this time. There are traffic police officers facilitating traffic Traffic can move continuously,” Thalang Traffic Police reported.

“If the operation of the electricity authority is completed, [we] will immediately open to normal traffic,” they added.

However, by 3:30 this afternoon, Thalang Traffic Police posted online longtail backs of traffic forming. The post was simply labelled: “Volume of inbound and outbound traffic on Thepkrasattri Rd Monument circle area… Travelers passing through should plan travel times.”

The work to move the power poles, and affect traffic in the Heroines monument area is scheduled to continue through to Monday (Aug 5).
