The arrests were made around 9:30pm on Wednesday (May 21), by the Phuket City Police Investigation Team, following complaints that foreign workers were running a mobile phone business at the Downtown Market.
The operation was reported as carried out under the orders of Phuket City Police Chief Pol Col Chatree Chueakaew and supported by senior officers including Pol Lt Col Atthawat Suwannarat and Pol Lt Col Kant Aksornthong.
The three Myanmar nationals arrested were named as: Mr Aung Chit Phoy, 22; Ms Zin Mar Htwe, 23; and Ms May Thet Khine, 32.
Police located the trio at the Phone Nan Tho Mobile Shop on Ranong Rd, in the heart of Phuket Town.
Upon inspection, authorities found that the individuals were either working without valid permits or performing jobs outside the scope of their registered work categories.
The three were taken to Phuket City Police Station for questioning and have been charged with violating labour laws. Legal proceedings are now underway, police confirmed.
Police made no mention of any charges against their employer.
