Patong Police Station was alerted to the accident at around 12.23pm. According to the preliminary investigation, Ms Noina Palasarn Holmgren was driving her Honda Accord downhill towards Patong and failed to navigate the curve.
The woman’s sedan then crossed the median line and collided with a rented Honda Click scooter driven by Ms Wang Lu, a Chinese national. Ms Wang Lu fell off her bike and rolled down the steep slope where she was found. The scooter received significant damage.
Also injured in the accident was Mr Khaing Myo Min, described by Patong Police as a worker from Myanmar. The man was standing on the sidewalk when he was hit by Ms. Noina Palasarn’s sedan.
It has not been confirmed yet if Patong Police charged anybody following the incident.
Pictures from the scene show Ms Noina Palasarn’s Honda Accord coming to a stop after crashing into a heavy machinery unit on the side of the road. For reasons unknown, this is not included in the accident report available to The Phuket News.
