The raids, conducted between 3am and 7.30am, were led by Chaiporn Yangchin of the Narcotics Control Board, joined by Thalang District officials and members of the Volunteer Defense Corps (OrSor), explained a report by the Thalang District Office.
Three suspects were arrested in relation to three drug cases and one involving an illegal firearm.
The arrests began with the one suspect, named only as ‘Mr A’, who was found with one methamphetamine pill (ya bah) at a rented room in Moo 5, Srisoonthorn. Mr A was taken to Thalang Police Station and charged with possession and use of a Category 1 narcotic.
Officers then moved to a boat repair shop in Koh Kaew, where they arrested ‘Mr B’, who was found in possession of 111 ya bah pills, 1.77 grammes of crystal meth (ya ice) and a 9mm pistol.
He also had 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 15 rounds of 0.32-calibre ammunition and 49 rounds of 0.25-calibre ammunition, said the report.
Mr B was taken to Phuket City Police Station and charged with drug trafficking, illegal firearm possession and drug use.
Officers also raided a house in Koh Kaew, where they arrested ‘Mr C’, who was apprehended with 2,350 ya bah pills and 16.63g of ya ice.
He was taken to Phuket City Police Station and charged with drug trafficking and illegal drug use.
Thalang District Office in its report stated that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb drug distribution networks and reduce illegal firearm possession in Phuket.
