The checkpoint was set up in Moo 4, Thepkrasattri, with officials conducting checks from 7pm to 8:30pm.
Staffing the checkpoint were security officials, together with members of the Thalang District Volunteer Defense Corps (OrSor), village headmen, assistants, doctors, police sergeants and Village Defense Volunteers from Thepkrasattri conducted
One suspect was found in possession of an unregistered .38 handgun, two magazines and 41 rounds of ammunition. He was arrested and handed over to Thalang Police for further legal action.
Random urine testing detected drug use in 15 individuals. Reports were prepared and the cases referred for treatment under official procedures, Thalang District Office reported.
Officials said the checkpoint was part of the Interior Ministry’s ‘8 Quick Wins’ anti-drugs policy combining suppression, prevention and community cooperation, and that further operations will continue across all areas of Thalang District.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday night (Sept 9), Kathu District Chief Akkaraphon Suthirak Chittsuphap led members of the Kathu District Volunteer Defense Corps in patrols along Patong’s Bangla Rd from 9pm onwards.
The operation was aimed at maintaining peace and order, reassuring tourists, and preventing crime, including drugs and other illegal activities, Kathu District Office reported.
