Police were called to the hotel, on Phra Mettha Rd, at 6:56am yesterday (Aug 11).
Officers and rescue workers arrived to find the woman on the bed. She had stab wounds to her abdomen and a cut on her throat. Blood was visible at the scene, and a blood-stained knife was found nearby.
According to the building administrator, who witnessed the incident, an argument ensued after she approached the woman and her boyfriend to discuss overdue rent payments.
The boyfriend claimed he had already given the money to the woman, but she had not yet paid the rent.
The disagreement escalated into a heated argument, after which the woman reportedly used a knife to stab herself in the abdomen and cut her throat, the building administrator said.
First responders from the Patong Kusoldharm Foundation administered immediate first aid and rushed the woman to Patong Hospital, where she remains receiving medical care.
Police noted they were continuing their investigation into the incident.
