The celebrations start at 5pm today (Apr 22), with a ceremony at Nai Yang Beach followed by a street procession all the way south to Tha Reua Shrine.
At 8:30pm a performance of Chinese opera will be held at the shrine.
More formal celebrations continue tomorrow (Apr 23), with a ceremony at the shrine from 8:30am.
At the auspicious time of 9:09am will be the ceremony to mark the shrine’s 125th anniversary, with offerings to the gods.
More formal celebrations will be held in front of the shrine from 3pm, with informal celebrations starting at 6pm.
The performance of Chinese opera will begin again at 8:30pm.
Motorists are urged to exercise patience and be respectful while the street processions continue, and to be prepared for more traffic than usual at the Heroines Monument as people make their way to and from the shrine.
