The incident occurred at around 12:50pm on the first-floor platform, prompting a response from officers at Skahu Police Station. No injuries were reported.
According to police, the driver of the van‒ identified as Somsak Khachatpai ‒ said the vehicle’s accelerator became stuck as he was preparing to leave the parking area at Gate 2.
The Toyota Commuter, bearing yellow Phuket license plates, surged forward and struck the rear of an MG car.
The force of the collision pushed the MG into the back of a Toyota Fortuner, which then slid forward and hit a white van.
The drivers of all four vehicles ‒ including Sahachai Chaiyareuk (MG), Phuwanai Kaewpradit (Fortuner) and Sarayut Chitnawee (the white van) ‒ remained at the scene to speak with police and insurance agents.
All four vehicles involve din the incident were operating as ’commercial passenger vehicles’, known to the public as ’taxis’.
Dashcam footage of the incident showed the initial van speeding toward the terminal before slamming into a green-plated taxi, which then collided with a white van.
Police said the parties involved were able to mediate and reach a preliminary agreement on compensation. The incident has been recorded for further investigation, police noted.
