The discovery was made at around 10:45am on Saturday (June 28), when Patong Police were notified of a body in a room in Soi Jintana, Patong.
Pol Lt Col Chananarong Prakongkeo, Investigation Officer at Patong Police Station, responded to the scene along with rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation.
Inside the room, officers found the deceased lying on his back with his arms spread out on the floor. The man was wearing green shorts and was surrounded by large amounts of dried blood. Based on the condition of the body, police estimated he had been dead for at least three days.
A knife was found lodged in the victim’s chest, prompting officers to contact a forensic specialist from Vachira Phuket Hospital to conduct an on-site examination.
The deceased was later identified as ‘Mr A Tonkla’, 39, originally from Sisaket Province.
Police have sent the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
