UPDATE: Weerawit Krueasombat, President of the Patong Entertainment Business Association (PEBA), has issued a statement regarding the shooting off Bangla Rd early this morning (See story here).
Patong Police were called to the scene, the Soi Lao parking lot by the side of Bangla Rd, at about 2:25am,
Officers detained Jettanai Kongsiri, who was found with Smith & Wesson .38 revolver at the scene.
Three people were injured in the incident.police confirmed.
Theerasak Kirirat was shot in the left arm, while Somnuek Nuannum was shot in the left leg. A third man, Pornsak Suwannarit, had suffered a knife wound on the right hand.
Jettanai was taken to Patong Police Station while the injured were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.
From their initial examination, police said that Jettanai was seen earlier in the night jeering people on Soi Bangla, notably engaging with Theerasak and Somnuek.
Jettanai disappeared from Soi Bangla for some time, before coming back again and meeting his “rivals” at the parking area, police explained.
An argument arose, and a fight ensued, which ended with the gunfire, police said.
People who came to break up the fight were also threatened with the gun, police added.
Police are continuing their investigation into the shooting, police confirmed.
