The man, identified as Jessadawut Hom from Pa Khlok, was reported missing at 7.10pm after he fell overboard while operating a jet-ski near Naka Yai Island, off Phuket’s east coast. He was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.
Mr Jessadawut was employed by Kai Naka Co Ltd, and the incident occurred during the course of his work, officials confirmed.
Warisara Muthametharit, who witnessed the incident, notified Thalang Police, prompting an immediate response. Rescue teams from multiple agencies, including dive units, launched search efforts in the area shortly afterward.
As of today (July 29), the search is still ongoing, with no sign of the missing operator. A search centre has been established, and operations are continuing in coordination with provincial and local authorities.
Thalang Police, led by Chief Pol Col Nikorn Chuathong, confirmed the case remains under investigation. Pol Lt Col Anukul Nuket and Pol Lt Col Warawut Seb Sob are overseeing the case.
The investigation is also being supported by Cherng Talay Police under Chief Pol Col Ekkarat Phlaiduang, with Pol Lt Col Kittipong Nupheng as the lead investigator.
Officials have urged all marine tourism operators and beachgoers to prioritise safety, especially during the southwest monsoon season when sea conditions can be dangerous. The public is reminded to always wear life jackets when participating in water activities.
