The festival will also mark a series of events being held between the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation (PPAO) and the Phang Nga Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) aimed at enhancing community engagement and economic opportunities.
The festival and series of jointly organised events were announced by Phang Nga Vice Governor Niracha Bunditchat at a press launch held on Sarasin Bridge on Tuesday (Feb 6).
At the press launch, PPAO President Rewat Areerob and Phang Nga PAO President Tharathip Thongcherm signed a Memorandum of Understanding for each provincial authority to support the events.
The event lineup includes three key projects scheduled between February and March. The projects include the "Project to Build Relationships with the Younger Generation (Phang Nga - Phuket)" from Feb 16-18 , the "Community Tourism Event Project" to be held at the Sarasin Bridge on Feb 16-18, and the "Seafood Festival Project Phang Nga Province" scheduled from Mar 1-3 along the Thai Mueang beachfront in Phang Nga.
Ms Bunditchat expressed her delight at the focus on tourism and the economy by the Phang Nga PAO. She commended the organisation for its efforts, particularly highlighting the upcoming "Ban Si Muang Nong Relationship Project (Phang Nga - Phuket)" as a crucial step in promoting tourism and stimulating economic growth in the region.
Mr Thongcherm emphasised the importance of building relationships with sister cities like Phuket to promote tourism and provide marketing opportunities for local products. He outlined the organisation’s goals of job creation, economic stimulation, and cultural preservation through these initiatives.
Mr Thongcherm also highlighted plans to improve transportation infrastructure, including the Andaman Ring Road Development Project, which aims to connect Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi provinces. The project, actually launched many years ago, seeks to enhance water transportation, reduce travel time, and support tourism and economic growth in the region.
The collaboration between Phang Nga and Phuket underscores a commitment to sustainable development and prosperity, with a focus on promoting tourism, supporting local economies, and preserving cultural heritage, said an official report of the event on Tuesday.
The upcoming home relations event serves as a testament to the dedication of both provinces towards achieving these shared goals, said the report.
