Police were called to the hotel at about 6:30am yesterday. Officers and rescue workers arrived to find the man’s body on the extended pool patio on the third floor. He was in a black T-shirt and black shorts.
The man’s body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Staff at the hotel told police the man was seen at the bar on the 24th floor of the hotel. He was told the bar would close at 10pm. Later, staff heard a loud sound, but paid no attention to it.
A security guard patrolling the third floor pool patio area early the next morning discovered the man’s body and informed police.
A review of CCTV footage confirmed the staff’s account, police reported.
Officers confirmed that the man was staying at another hotel, on Phra Mettha Rd.
A search of his room discovered a handwritten suicide note, police said.
Police are now working with authorities so they can contact the relevant embassy to notify the man’s relatives.
