Police were alerted to the incident at 3:52pm when Chalong Police Station received a report from its radio centre of a foreign man who had fallen from the roof of a building located within the NBC condo project (NaiHarn Beach Condominium).
Pol Lt Kriangkrai Daokrajai,of the Chalong Police responded to the scene, along with a forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital and rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation.
At the scene, officers found the body of the deceased on the ground with visible injuries and blood around him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a friend who was present at the time, the man had been intoxicated and behaving erratically. He reportedly became aggressive and assaulted his friend before fleeing to the rooftop and jumping to his death.
A preliminary examination was performed at the scene by the forensic doctor. The body was then transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full post-mortem examination.
Police reported they had notified the Russian Embassy to assist with contacting the man’s family for repatriation and funeral arrangements.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident but believe there was no foul play involved.
