The handover ceremony took place on Thursday (Mar 28) at the Phuket Merlin Hotel. The DSPM/DAIM kits and TEDA4I kits were provided to Phuket educational and medical workers by the Rotary Club of Phuket South (Thailand), the Rotary Club of Patong Beach (Thailand), and the Rotary Club of Kushiro Bay (Japan).

The Mar 28 event was led by Phuket Vice Governor Norasak Suksomboon and the President of the Rotary Club of Phuket South, Sunee Saetan.

Other relevant officials and representatives of government and private sectors joined the event, reported the Phuket office of the Public Relations Department (PR Phuket), without naming any of them.

As explained by PR Phuket, the project by the three Rotary Clubs is aimed at raising the level of early child development in Phuket. This includes providing valuable knowledge and tools to educators and medical workers working with kids aged 0-5 years.

This year’s effort also marks the ’sixth-cycle’ birthday of King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X), who turns 72 years old on July 28, 2024.

The total project value is B1.26 million, with the objective to enable public health personnel, teachers, and child caretakers to monitor, evaluate, and promote early childhood development using the DSPM kits, as well as have good communication skills and being able to give basic advice to parents in promoting their children’s development according to their age,” the report by PR Phuket said.

As part of the effort, the Rotary Club of Phuket South (Thailand), the Rotary Club of Patong Beach (Thailand), the Rotary Club of Kushiro Bay (Japan), and the Phuket office of the Ministry of Public Health (PPHO) organised a series of workshops for relevant officials in Phuket from Dec 26, 2023, through Jan 19, 2024.

Over 170 educators and health workers at the subdistrict level underwent the training. No details were revealed about the future phases of the project.
