Rider killed in motorbike head-on crash in Pa Khlok

PHUKET: A man has died after his motorbike collided head-on with another bike in Pa Khlok, Thalang, yesterday afternoon (Oct 9).

Thalang Police received the report of the accident at 4:34pm, involving two motorbikes on the Muang Mai–Pa Khlok Rd, in front of the SuperCheap store in Moo 3, Pa Khlok.

Police and rescue workers arrived to find both vehicles damaged but the riders had already been taken to Thalang Hospital.

One of the riders, Yudin Thothip, was later pronounced dead at the hospital. He had been driving a motorcycle registered in Nakhon Sri Thammarat.

The other rider was a 15-year-old from Phuket, who was driving a motorcycle with a Phuket plate.

Witnesses told police that Mr Yudin had been riding against traffic at the time of the crash, resulting in the fatal collision.

Police photographed the scene and took both motorbikes to Thalang Police Station as evidence.

Thalang Police Chief Pol Col Nikorn Chuthong confirmed that the case is under investigation by Pol Lt Col Panya Chaiwichit, who will gather evidence and proceed with legal action as appropriate.

According to national road safety agency Thai RSC, 91 people have died in road accidents in Phuket so far this year, with another 21,158 people injured.

Just yesterday (Oct 9), two people were killed and 52 people suffered injuries in accidents on Phuket’s roads.

Of the thousands of accidents that have already happened on Phuket’s roads this year, 84% involved motorbikes.
