Police were called to the workers’ camp, in Moo 4, Srisoonthorn, early yesterday morning (Nov 18).

According to a report filed by Phanesak Rungprasit, an employee of Mu Engineering Co Ltd, Rin Bunyao, 45, from Ratchaburi Province, attacked his coworker, Sompong Teja, 40, from Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, after an ongoing argument escalated.

The dispute reportedly began around 7pm Sunday (Nov 17) when the two men started arguing over loud noises. The police report did not define exactly who was accused of creating which noise.

Although the argument initially subsided, tensions flared again at around 2am the following day.

According to Mr Phanesak, who was sleeping in the same room as Mr Sompong, Rin entered the room holding beer bottles in both hands.

After setting the bottles down, Rin picked up a table fan and struck Mr Sompong repeatedly on the head.

Mr Sompong was rushed to Thalang Hospital and later transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

By midday yesterday, police had located and arrested Rin. He was taken to Thalang Police Station and charged with assault causing death.

The case remains under investigation as authorities gather further evidence and witness statements.
