At about 9am on Saurday (Mar 30), DDPM-Wichit officers were called to Soi Thepanusorn, in Moo 4, Wichit, to provide assistance in capturing a reptile that had sneaked into a local resident’s home.

The reptile turned out to be a small monitor lizard. Armed with poles with loops, officials safely restrained it before taking it away and releasing it into the wild.

At 3.30pm on the same day, another request came from Soi Thepanusorn. This time, the reptile in question was a huge python measuring more than 2 meters. The snake was caught and released into the wild as well.

Saturday’s reptile alerts in Soi Thepanusorn continued the busy week at the DDPM-Wichit, which started on Monday (Mar 25), when rescue workers were summoned to this residential area to catch a snake that had burrowed its way under a water tank in a local resident’s yard.

DDPM Wichit noted that it has three centers that people can contact in case of emergencies or if they need assistance, such as having a large snake removed or more recently, to report any wildfires in the area. The three centers, accessible 24 hours a day, are designated as:

  • Relief Center (Suan Sri Phuwanat): Tel. 076-525199
  • Panwa Center (Ao Makham): Tel. 076-684443
  • Surakul Center (behind Surakul Stadium): Tel. 076-540899
