The project involves upgrading a 5.95-kilometre stretch of Srisoonthorn Rd (Route 4025), from the Supalai Hills housing estate all the way to Cherng Talay Police Station.

The road serves as a key connector between Cherng Talay and Thepkrasattri Rd, and is an important route for tourists and local traffic alike, the Phuket Highways Office said in its announcement.

The meeting will take place from 9am to midday at the Chalermprakiat 84 Pansa Building, located on the northwest corner of the Bang Maruan Lake in Srisoonthorn. (See map below.)

According to project documents, the new road design includes a four-lane highway with a central raised median from km 1+000 to km 6+250, transitioning to a two-lane highway with painted median and sidewalks for the remaining 700 metres.

The works also include drainage improvements, lighting upgrades and safety enhancements such as U-turn points, road signs and traffic markings.

Project engineers say the improved route will reduce congestion, enhance safety and support Phuket’s tourism and economic development.

The estimated budget for the construction is B420 million, to be allocated under the Department of Highways’ fiscal year 2025.

The plan is to begin construction by December this year, with the project taking about 36 months to complete.

Key details of the project include: Four lanes with raised median (km 1+000 to km 6+250); Two lanes with painted median and footpaths (km 6+250 to km 6+950); Seven U-turn points, street lighting, drainage systems, traffic signage and road surface improvements.

The Phuket Highways Office in its announcement emphasised the importance of public feedback and participation in finalising the road design. Attendees will be able to review maps and models, ask questions, and provide suggestions.

Route 4025 currently carries an average of 21,000 vehicles per day, and authorities expect traffic volumes to continue rising. The Department of Highways notes that the planned improvements aim to accommodate future growth while reducing accident risks.

The department encourages all residents and business owners along the route to attend the session and voice any concerns.
