The “scholarships”, as the PPAO calls them, were presented at a ceremony held at the Phuket Merlin Hotel on Thursday (Sept 11), presided over by PPAO President Rewat Areerob. The event was attended by PPAO executives, council members, government officials and invited guests.
Under the ‘Scholarships for Students and Assistance to Poor and Educationally Disadvantaged Students’ project, a total of 910 students will receive financial aid.
The support is divided according to education levels: Kindergarten to primary school (589 students), B2,000 each; Lower secondary school (170 students), B4,000 each; and Upper secondary school or equivalent (151 students), B6,000 each
Mr Rewat said the initiative reflects the PPAO’s commitment to investing in Phuket’s future through education.
“Education is the key to improving quality of life. Many children are talented but lack opportunities,” he said. “This project gives them a chance to pursue their studies and encourages them to work hard, grow into responsible citizens, and contribute positively to society and the nation.”
The scholarship programme is designed not only to ease the financial burden on parents but also to strengthen long-term development by nurturing the island’s human resources, he added.
