The budget was confirmed during a site visit by the Phuket Provincial Governance Committee on Tuesday (June 17). The committee, led by Vice Chairman Peerapich Ongcharoen, met at the Phuket Provincial Livestock Office to monitor progress and ensure transparency in the use of public funds.
The visit focused on three priority initiatives:
* A B962,000 project by the Phuket Provincial Fisheries Office to ‘enhance fisheries potential’ in support of marine tourism. A highlight of this initiative is the promotion of the seven-coloured lobster’, a local Geographic Indication (GI) product that holds promise for marine conservation tourism.
* A B973,300 agricultural development project by the Phuket Provincial Agricultural Office to increase the economic value of local products. The office is promoting ‘Phuket pineapple cultivation’ and supporting ‘beekeeping’ as a supplementary career to boost farmers’ incomes and economic resilience.
* A B768,900 project led by the Phuket Provincial Livestock Office to ‘revive goat farming’, encouraging the production and marketing of both dairy and meat goats. The programme includes product processing and market expansion strategies, as well as animal health services such as a dedicated ‘goat clinic’ and measures to prevent caprine arthritis encephalitis (CAE), a disease that reduces goat productivity.
The committee’s visit was part of the PPAO’s broader 2025 action plan to ensure good governance, efficient public spending, and long-term benefits for the community, said an official report of the announcement.
Officials reaffirmed the PPAO’s commitment to strengthening Phuket’s grassroots economy and improving local livelihoods through sustainable agricultural development.
