The order came at a meeting held at the Phuket Provincial Police headquarters, attended by the superintendents of all police stations in Phuket, yesterday (Oct 25).)

Also present were leading officers from Phuket Immigration, Tourist Police and Marine Police.

In light of the recent bombing at Panare Police Station in Pattani Province, all police stations were ordered to increase vigilance and develop preventive measures to avert similar incidents, said an official report of the meeting.

With the high tourist season approaching, all units are instructed to strictly enforce the law to ensure the safety of the influx of visitors, the report added.

Also, there will be a trial adjustment in the time when trucks are prohibited on certain roads. Relevant police stations were to ensure smooth traffic flow during these periods.

A crackdown on illegal firearms will be prioritised. Police stations were authorised to conduct searches and establish mobile checkpoints in high-risk areas to prevent potential criminal activity, Maj Gen Sinlert said.

In recognition of outstanding efforts, Pol Maj Gen. Sukhum also presented certificates of merit to police officers, advisors and second-year students from Phuket Rajabhat University for their contributions in creating public relations materials on how to avoid falling victim to money transfer scams.
