Held at The Pago Design Hotel, the ceremony was presided over by Phuket Provincial Police Chief Pol Maj Gen Sinlert Sukhum. Certificates were presented to 200 participants.
Also in attendance were senior police officers, representatives from government agencies, private organisations, and community members.
The initiative, supported by the ‘Nam Wan Co’, focused on enhancing the skills and knowledge of female road safety volunteers across Phuket.
The training covered traffic laws, alcohol-related legislation, cooperation with police at checkpoints, and effective community communication strategies.
Police said the project aims to build a strong network of local volunteers who can support officers in promoting safe road use, particularly in high-risk areas.
Volunteers are expected to play a vital role in educating their communities, helping reduce traffic accidents, and fostering a culture of road safety.
“Road accidents remain a pressing issue in Phuket,” said Pol Maj Gen Sinlert. “All sectors must come together, and community volunteers are key to ensuring long-term, sustainable change.”
The trained volunteers will now take their knowledge back to their communities to raise awareness, promote responsible behaviour, and encourage public cooperation in creating safer streets under the theme: “Safe Roads, Safe People, Safe Society”.
