The assembly, presided over by Region 8 Police Deputy Commander Pol Maj Gen Wimon Phitakburapha and Phuket Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Sinlert Sukhum, saw the participation of various law enforcement agencies, military personnel, administrative officials, volunteers and media personnel.
The initiative comes in response to a concerning surge in violent incidents, particularly those involving firearms, often perpetrated by children and youth, explained an official report of the campaign launch.
With Valentine’s Day on Feb 14, concerns were raised about potential inappropriate behavior, including sexual harassment and drug-related activities among young individuals.
Addressing the gathering, Pol Maj Gen Wimon emphasised the importance of proactive measures in preventing and suppressing crime. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate effectively, employing rigorous police tactics while ensuring the safety of citizens and tourists alike.
The crime suppression campaign aims to target various offenses, including general crimes, technology crimes, drug-related activities and addressing old outstanding warrants. Additionally, efforts will be directed towards safeguarding the welfare of children and youth.
The mobilisation involves a coordinated effort among multiple units, including police officers under the Phuket Provincial Police, Provincial Police Investigation Division 8, Tourist Police Headquarters, Immigration checkpoints, Marine Police Division, Highway Police Division, Narcotics Suppression Unit, military personnel, administrative officers, public sector volunteers and foundations, totaling 365 individuals.
As the campaign unfolds, authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment for all. With a focus on diligent execution and adherence to regulations and laws, the Phuket Provincial Police remains committed to upholding peace and order in the region, said the official report.
