Rescue workers from Pa Khlok Municipality were alerted at 2:10pm by the Narenthorn Andaman emergency centre hotline 1669 to an injured man on Koh Naka, in Moo 5, Pa Khlok. A boat was arranged to transfer the victim to Ao Po Pier, from where he was rushed to Thalang Hospital.

Police later identified the victim as 40-year-old Thai national Sumit ‘Big’ Manasdee, who had sustained stab wounds to his chest, breast and armpit.

According to Thalang Police, the attack stemmed from a fight at the men’s workplace on Koh Naka. The assailant, described as a Myanmar national, fled the scene and escaped into the mountain area of the island.

Pol Lt Wanich Manilert, Deputy Inspector of Thalang Police, confirmed that patrol officers were dispatched to the hospital before launching a manhunt. Investigators from Thalang Police Station have since been deployed to Koh Naka to track down the suspect.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and the search will continue until the suspect is brought to justice.
