Cherng Talay Police were notified of the incident at 12:20am, with Lt Col Kittipong Noopeng receiving the report and alerting his superiors.
Patrol and investigative officers arrived to find the victim, whom they named as 34-year-old British national Louis Johe Jarvie, suffering a knife wound to his right arm.
Rescue workers from the Cherng Talay Tambon Administrative Organisation (OrBorTor) provided first aid before transporting Mr Jarvie to Thalang Hospital.
According to initial accounts, the attacker – described only as a foreign man – fled the scene before officers arrived.
Lt Col Kittipong confirmed this afternoon that Mr Jarvie remains in hospital recovering from his injuries, but is not yet well enough to give a full statement.
He added that police have collected statements from witnesses, but maintained that he still did not have a description of the suspect as “visibility at the beach was poor at the time of the incident”.
“Witnesses said they saw a large foreign man stab the British man in the arm. The victim is now feeling better but is not ready to respond,” he said.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and continuing to question witnesses as they work to identify and locate the suspect, Lt Col Kittipong said.
