Images of three to four high-end vehicles parked along red-and-white curbs ‒ which indicate a no-parking zone ‒ were widely shared across local Line groups and social media pages yesterday afternoon (June 4). The photos sparked public calls for police to take swift action against the traffic violations.
Phuket City Police Chief Pol Col Chatree Chueakaew responded by ordering traffic officers to immediately investigate the incident. Officers located a supercar with foreign license plates, believed to belong to a tourist. One of the supercars was marked with “GTR Owners Club Singapore”.
The car’s owner was summoned to the police station, issued a ticket, and ordered to move the vehicle, police reported.
The move was widely praised online, with commenters highlighting the police’s commitment to equal law enforcement, regardless of a driver’s status or vehicle type. Many noted the importance of fair and consistent application of traffic laws, especially in a destination that attracts large numbers of international visitors.
Officials reiterated that parking in red-and-white zones is prohibited and subject to fines, and encouraged all drivers ‒ locals and tourists alike ‒ to respect Thai traffic laws.
