The operation was launched in response to numerous complaints from residents living along Sakdidet Rd in the Baan Bo Rae area. Locals reported frequent and disruptive motorcycle races at night, sparking growing frustration in the community.

Wichit Police Chief Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang ordered a targeted crackdown early hours of June 8. At around 2:20am, officers led by Pol Lt Col Wutthiwat Liangbunchinda, Pol Lt Col Somporn Rangsimanrat and Pol Lt Col Sawat Phon-on, along with the ‘Pitak Wichit’ (Protect Wichit) unit, carried out the operation in high-risk areas such as Laem Dinso and Khao Khad Viewpoint.

As a result, five motorcycles were seized for lacking proper documentation. The vehicles included a black Honda PCX (Sakon Nakhon plates), a white Honda Scoopy (Surat Thani), a black Honda Scoopy (Phuket), a black Honda Wave (Narathiwat) and a black Honda MSX (Phuket).

Eight individuals under the age of 18 were taken into custody. Their parents were called in to hear an explanation of the legal consequences.

The parents are now being prosecuted under Thailand’s Child Protection Act (Sections 26(3) and 78), with Wichit Police collecting records on each teen as part of ongoing monitoring efforts.

“This kind of behaviour causes real hardship for residents,” said Pol Col Somsak. “Despite past enforcement, illegal gatherings continue. That’s why we’re intensifying efforts until these street races are stopped completely.”

Pol Col Somsak have vowed to continue night patrols and strict enforcement of traffic laws in problem areas. The operation is part of broader efforts to prevent juvenile crime, ensure road safety, and maintain peace in local communities, he added.
