Phuket City Municipality noted in its announcement that the following roads will be affected: Thalang Rd, Krabi Rd, Phang Nga Rd, Phuket Rd and Thepkrasattri Rd.
The roads will be closed to traffic from 2pm to 11pm each day during the festival to accommodate activities and ensure the safety of all participants, the announcement said.
“We highly encourage the use of public transportation, such as local songthaew, taxis or the Smart Bus service, from designated parking areas to help reduce traffic congestion,” Phuket City Municipality noted.
The special parking areas have been arranged at: Wat Mongkol Nimit, Saphan Hin, next to Mei Zhou Hotel, Wat Kajorn Rangsan, Limelight Phuket, Pearl Hotel Phuket, the Old Fresh Market and Wat Wichit Sangkaram.
Temporary parking for local residents has been arranged along Krabi Rd.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and sincerely thank everyone for their cooperation,” Phuket City Municipality said in its announcement.
“Let’s come together to enjoy the charm of Phuket Old Town and the vibrant celebrations of the Chinese New Year Festival!” the announcement concluded.
