The market, located near Surin Circle (the ‘clocktower roundabout’) opposite the Baan Klang Mosque, is a collaborative effort between the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (PPAO) and Phuket City Municipality.
Plern Pao Night Market is part of a broader initiative to revitalise Phuket’s grassroots economy by providing space for small entrepreneurs and vendors to sell their products, while promoting Phuket’s unique cultural and culinary heritage, MP Thitikan said at the grand opening.
“This market was developed to be a creative tourist attraction that enhances Phuket’s image and offers an enjoyable experience for both locals and visitors,” said Winyu Chongkitthana, manager of the Plern Pao Market.
Spanning over 15 rai, the market features more than 256 stalls and has been designed to provide a wide range of experiences. Dedicated zones include food and beverage areas, street food vendors, creative activity spaces, relaxation areas and ample parking facilities, he said.
The market is open every day except Sundays from 4pm to 10pm.
Visitors to the opening event were treated to a lively programme featuring creative performances, contemporary art and cultural displays, mini-concerts by local artists, special giveaways including Plern Pao Gift Vouchers, and a variety of activities designed to promote tourism.
Organisers hope the Plern Pao Night Market will quickly become a new landmark for Phuket’s nightlife, drawing both Thai and international tourists while providing a sustainable platform for cultural expression, job creation and community income.
