The event, called the ‘Phuket Roadshow to Singapore’ was held on Tuesday (Oct 22), and brought together 22 tourism business operators from Phuket and 42 from Singapore, the Phuket Tourist Association explained on Thursday (Oct 24).

The event, co-sponsored by the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation (PPAO), was held to enhance tourism networks and foster business opportunities between the two destinations, the association explained.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Ureerat Charoento, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, and Yatikarn Kaewborisut, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) Singapore office.

Amb Ureerat delivered a welcoming speech to the participants, emphasising the importance of collaboration in the tourism industry.

Phuket Tourist Association President Thaneth Tantipiriyakij expressed his gratitude to the attendees and provided updates on Phuket’s tourism products and services, designed to attract more Singaporean visitors.

Phuket is a top destination for Singaporeans due to its beautiful beaches, diverse cultures, food, and many tourist activities, which cater to all groups of tourists, including relaxation, said Mr Thaneth.

“Whether it is a family, a group of friends or a MICE meeting group, there are currently 72 direct flights a week between Singapore and Phuket, offering a flight time of just two hours, the island is a convenient option for weekend getaways or short vacations.

“This ease of travel has led to a steady increase in tourist numbers from Singapore and other neighbouring countries,” he added.

The ‘Pre ITB Asia 2024’ event is part of ongoing efforts to boost tourism ties between Singapore and Phuket, offering participants the opportunity to network and explore new business collaborations.
