“Creating Jobs and Career Paths @Phuket” is being organised by local government in collaboration Phuket Vocational College and JobBK.com Co., Ltd and will take place between 8:30am to 5pm at The Pago Design Hotel in Phuket Town.
A press conference was held yesterday (July 26) at Provincial Hall chaired by Phuket Vice Governor Narasak Suksomboon who was joined by Phichit Singthongkam from the Phuket Provincial Employment Office.
The one-day event aims to connect employers and businesses with job seekers to enable constructive discussions which can lead to suitable recruitment measures being made, Mr Phichit explained.
This can contribute positively to reducing local unemployment and labour shortages while serving as a platform to motivate people regarding future career options, he added.
Mr Phichit further explained that there are over 2,000 vacant jobs available at the fair from 50 leading businesses that will be open to all, including students, the elderly and disabled candidates.
Additional activities taking place at the fair include a virtual learning exhibition and career path display specific to the tourism and service sectors and an array of exhibitions from a range of public and private sector agencies and educational institutions.
Career counseling services will be on offer, including testing and training on English language capabilities and guidance on working overseas, while a lecture on the topic of “Essential Skills in the AI Everywhere Era” will also be held.
There will also be an exhibition area where products from home workers, OTOP groups, disabled people, senior citizens, prisoners, franchise businesses and food trucks will be offered at reduced rates. This initiative is being supported by the Ministry of Commerce where the Department of Internal Trade is offering more than 100 low-priced Blue Flag products at discounts of up to 55%.
