Phuket tailbacks ensue as truck flips on Kata Hill

PHUKET: A six-wheeled truck flipped on the hill road between Chalong and Kata at 12:30pm today (Mar 1), causing major traffic delays on the busy road linking the east and west coasts in the south of the island.

Karon Police Deputy Superintendent Lt Col Narong Laksanawimon told The Phuket News that the truck was travelling from Chalong to Kata-Karon when the accident happened in front of the power substation on the Kata side of the hill.

“Traffic Police are on site to direct traffic around the accident site,” Col Narong said.

“Chalong Police are assisting too, and will help co-ordinate in safely removing the truck from the road,” he added.

“We have yet to receive any reports of any persons injured,” Col Narong confirmed.
